María, nuestra Madre Santísima, era solo una niña cuando supo que iba a ser parte importante del plan de Dios para el mundo entero.

La tradición nos dice que María tenía tres años cuando sus padres, Ana y Joaquín, la llevaron al templo de Jerusalén para que fuera bendecida. La bendición era una señal de que iba a amar a Dios y servirle. Ana y Joaquín criaron a María según las costumbres judías y ellos le enseñaron a siempre creer y confiar en Dios.

Imagine seeing our Blessed Mother not just once, but 18 times! That is the blessing Bernadette Soubirous was given for five months in 1858.

One day, Bernadette, her sister, and a friend were gathering firewood near their home in Lourdes, France. Suddenly a lovely Lady dressed in blue and white appeared to Bernadette above a rose bush in a small cave. The Lady held a rosary and made the Sign of the Cross. Bernadette, who was only 14 years old, fell to her knees and began to pray the rosary.

People in Mexico and in the United States celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12. Mary is the Patron Saint of Mexico and Patroness of the Americas. Every year, thousands of people from all over the country make a pilgrimage to the Basilica in Mexico City. The day commemorates her apparition to Saint Juan Diego in the hills of Tepeyac in 1531. She asked him to go to the bishop and tell him that the Ever Virgin Mary, Mother of God sent him to ask for a church to be built atop Tepeyac hill.
